An extraordinarily important exhibition that sees a series of events within it. The inauguration will see the signing of an important thirty-year agreement between the Bishops' Museum and Dr. Sergio Fontana, Administrator of Farmalabor and President of the Culture sector of Confindustria Bari-BAT, in the presence of the Regional Councilor for Tourism Loredana Capone. In the presence of numerous authorities, 35 unpublished masterpieces by the famous painter from Barletta, precursor of French Impressionism, will be on display until 1 May 2016. Central piece of extraordinary importance, the unpublished fan that De Nittis created and gave to his wife Léontine Gruvelle on 7 November 1883, a few months before his untimely death. The painter's private photographs and his wife's letters, also unpublished, are exceptionally unique. At the end, on April 24th, a dinner will be held in the rooms below the structure, where you will taste the dishes that the painter loved to cook on Saturdays and you will listen to masterpieces by Debussy and Chopin.
An unpublished drawing, purchased by the well-known Sotheby's Auction House, which reproduces the central key of the work The School of Athens, in the Apartments of the Segnatura. An unpublished drawing, different from the one preserved in the Ambrosiana in Milan, attributed to Raphael, which allows us to understand the original project of the great author: postponing the two figures of the philosophers and the sculptures behind them. Founded by Commander Domenico Fracchiolla in 1864, the Banca Principe di Napoli was the first banking and mutual aid institution to be established in Canosa in the last twenty years of the nineteenth century. Rich landowners, noble families and the emerging upper middle class turned to this Institute to expand their properties and provide assistance to their workers. An example of banking modernity, which issued credit or debt securities of extraordinary artistic value. After the bankruptcy of the Fracchiolla family, the Bank was purchased by the Banco di Napoli, becoming an integral part of it. The exhibition displays credit titles, stamps and ancient documents of this Institution.
A complex exhibition, which sees the restoration of the most precious liturgical elements from the year 1000, belonging to the Royal Palatine Chapel of the Normans of Canosa. The ivory cross from the 11th century, the Afghan liturgical fan from the year 1000, the pontifical gloves of Paschal II. Unpublished parchments from the Provost's Historical Archive, deeds of possession, Norman donations, Cluniac missals and the unpublished grave goods of Marco Boemondo d'Altavilla, Prince of Antioch and Lord of Taranto. The exhibition is enriched by the rich numismatic cross-section of the 11th-12th and 13th century Cathedral in silver and bronze, as well as an interactive system that allows you to view enlargements.
An exhibition with conference, concerning the work of the famous painter Giovanni Boccati da Camerino, a pupil of Mantegna, who received a commission to create an altarpiece on the Life and Miracles of San Sabino da Canosa. The work dates back to 1453, dismembered into 5 separate altarpieces. The one on display, virtually alongside the missing ones, is the property of Banca Intesa San Paolo, exhibited at the Corrado Giaquinto Art Gallery in Bari.

From the Royal Chapter Archive of the Cathedral of San Sabino, in Canosa di Puglia, emerge the unpublished letters written between 1812 and 1815 by Gioacchino Napoleone to Domenico Forges D'Avanzati, former Prime Minister of the Neapolitan Republic and Bishop of Canosa. Unpublished letters, not passed by the Royal Chancellery, which reveal links to international politics, in which the Sovereign orders compliance with the code of reporting dissidents. Highlight, a splendid pistol donated by the Sovereign to the Provosts of Canosa, embellished with a gold stock.
